UAS Flight Demonstration IF800 & IF1200

Updated: Mar 6

It was great attending the Inspired Flight IF800 demonstration at George Mason University in Manassas, VA on Friday. It was a good mix of representatives from the public and private sectors. Thanks to the public safety team at GMU for hosting!

The potential for UAS (drones) in security and public safety is tremendous, but we’re still in the infant stages. I was impressed hearing how some public safety agencies in Virginia and Maryland have incorporated drones into their operations in the complex airspace around Washington DC.

The equipment now being manufactured here in the United States by Inspired Flight, demonstrated at this event, rivals anything coming from other countries. Inspired Flight’s aircraft are Blue UAS certified and NDAA compliant, making them an ideal choice to support safety and security efforts across the country. I was able to fly both the IF800 and IF1200 in gusty winds. Both performed very well – Stable, easy to maneuver, good range, and battery life. Both can carry impressive payloads.

As commercial UAS adoption rapidly increases, compliance will become increasingly important.  The challenges sure to come at the intersection of commercial viability, public procurement, federal funding, FAA regulations, interoperability, standardization, etc., etc, will demand it. It’s unlikely the mid to high-end commercial UAS market in the U.S. will support two separate manufacturing and operating streams, one compliant and one not, to meet the performance requirements of the commercial and public safety markets.

With our vast security and flight operations experience, S6RG is determined to be a leader in implementing UAS technology into security operations by partnering with best-in-class UAS manufacturers, security technology providers, and public safety agencies to create seamless security programs for our clients and communities across the United States.

Over the past 14 months, we’ve successfully implemented UAS into our security operations supporting our Threat & Vulnerability Risk Assessments (TVRA) and site surveys with high-resolution imaging and mapping. In 2024, we’ll be incorporating high-definition video surveillance streaming and applying real-time security analytics maximizing site situational awareness while providing an airborne force multiplier to surface security programs.
